The Mount Pleasant Police Department are looking for a suspect in a fatal stabbing at a shopping center.

Consolidated dispatch confirms that law enforcement responded to Belk at the Towne Center Shopping Centre about 5:45 Wednesday night.

A spokesperson for MPPD says they have a murder warrant out for 33-year-old Dennis Elvin Cervantes-Pavon. Pavon is Hispanic, between 5'04"-5'08",  150-180 pounds, wearing a red and white stripped shirt, blue jeans and tan boots.

The victim was transported to the hospital after the stabbing. He was reported dead several hours after the incident.

According to police, Pavon and the victim knew each other.  Both are construction workers working in the area. The two had some sort of altercation inside the Belk extension, when Pavon allegedly stabbed the victim.  Police are stressing that this stabbing is an "isolated incident."

After the stabbing, Pavon fled on foot.  Law enforcement are looking for him in the Labor Camp Road area. Police say it's possible Pavon is still armed.

Belk closed during the investigation.  No roads officially closed, but a perimeter is up where police believe the suspect is.

If you see Pavon, call 911.
