Pedestrian killed in West Ashley hit and run accident

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating an auto-pedestrian accident on Ashley River Road that killed 22-year-old Forrest Carlton early Sunday morning.

According to Major Eric Watson, deputies responded to Plainview Drive and Ashley River Road around 3 a.m. Sunday, after receiving a call from a concerned driver, who reportedly saw a man lying on the right side of the northbound shoulder. Carlton was transported to MUSC where he later died.

According to investigators, the suspect's vehicle departed the area without providing any assistance to the victim or information.

The suspect's vehicle is describe as an early model black in color Dodge Charger or Challenger with possible front end damage, and was traveling southbound on Ashley River Road.
