Mom accused of abducting children arrested in SC

From the Associated Press:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina highway troopers have arrested a woman accused of abducting her two children from their grandparents' home in Maine.

Senior Trooper Bridgent Wyant says 34-year-old Bethmarie Retamozzo was arrested about 10:15 p.m. Saturday after troopers spotted her van with New York tags at a rest area off Interstate 95 in Colleton County.

Police in Waterville, Maine, say she disappeared with her 6- and 7-year-old children before a planned supervised visit. She was supposed to take them to a park to meet a supervisor Thursday.

The children were unharmed and turned over to the Department of Social Services. Retamozzo is charged as a fugitive from justice.

Wyant says she will remain in Colleton County jail until FBI agents take custody.
