Firefighters battling blaze at business on Savannah Highway

Firefighters battling blaze at business on Savannah Highway

From our News Partners at WCBD-TV:

Three fire departments are responding to a fire at a commercial structure at or near 3915 Savannah Highway in Ravenel

The  Charleston Fire Department is assisting.  Units from the City of Charleston, Saint Andrews, and Saint Johns Fire Department are currently on scene working together as part of the automatic aide agreement.

Roberts and Sons Sign shop is the business listed at that address.

Both sides of Savannah Highway in that area are  closed.   Due to this  structure fire at Roberts Sign Company on Savannah Highway, both Northbound and Southbound lanes of  Savannah Hwy (17) are being alternated through the Southbound lanes due to fire apparatus and fire hoses on Hwy 17.

Motorists are encouraged to use Hwy 165 as an alternate route until additional traffic lanes can be opened.

At this point the nature or origin of the fire is not known.

News 2 has a crew at the scene and will have more details as they become available.
